In the third quarter of 2022, the social app landscape in the United Arab Emirates showcased a range of performance metrics across downloads, revenue, and active users. According to Sensor Tower data, the top five social apps on a unified platform — TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Shorts VotTak: Short Video App, and Bigo Live - Live Streaming App — experienced distinct trends.

TikTok from TikTok Pte. Ltd. saw a robust performance in both revenue and user engagement. Weekly revenue fluctuated, peaking at approximately $561K in late July, while weekly downloads saw a decline from around 129K in late July to about 66K by the end of September. Despite this, weekly active users remained strong, averaging over 5M throughout the quarter.

Facebook by Meta Platforms, Inc. maintained a steady weekly active user base, hovering around 6.4M. Revenue remained relatively stable, with a peak of $13.9K in mid-July and a slight dip to $6.9K in mid-September. Downloads saw a decline from approximately 76K in late June to 50K by the end of the quarter.

Instagram experienced fluctuating weekly downloads, starting at around 73K and dropping to 43.8K by the end of September. Revenue showed a modest increase, peaking at $409 in early August. Active users remained relatively stable, averaging around 2.8M throughout the quarter.

Shorts VotTak: Short Video App had varying download numbers, starting at around 49.5K in late June and decreasing to approximately 12.6K by the end of September. Weekly active users fluctuated, peaking at 114K in late June and then stabilizing around 75K by the end of the quarter.

Bigo Live - Live Streaming App from Bigo Technology Pte. Ltd. showed consistent weekly active users, averaging around 175K. Revenue saw significant fluctuations, peaking at $108.8K in late June and then dropping to $81.2K by the end of September. Downloads remained steady, around 17.4K to 19.2K throughout the quarter.
